2022 Recap: Celebrating the Success of 'The Choice' and Progress on 'Jacob's Journey'

THE CHOICE

The Choice is a virtual reality series that brings to light personal stories of women who have chosen to have an abortion. The immersive experience of VR offers an intimate and impactful perspective to shift viewers' attitudes and behaviors.

The first episode of The Choice continues to gain recognition at international festivals and screenings, seen this past year at SXSW (Audience Award Winner), the International Documentary Film Festival (IDFA) in Amsterdam, BFI London Film Festival, the Human Rights Film Festival in Prague and more. The XR Must Awards (voted on by XR professionals) recently acknowledged The Choice as among the year’s best in two categories, Best Storytelling and Best Impact.

It has been an emotional and fulfilling journey, and I am grateful to Kristen, who shared her deeply personal story, and to my talented team for their efforts in creating a powerful and intimate experience.

We are excited to announce that we are partnering with Games for Change (G4C) on a comprehensive impact campaign aimed at promoting dialogue and engagement, informing policy-makers, and mobilizing the public. The campaign will involve presentations at universities, activist and community-based organizations, conferences, and more.

We are also working on producing additional episodes and are seeking storytellers to share their experiences. If you know anyone who may be interested, please do not hesitate to reach out.

JACOB’S JOURNEY

Our next VR documentary, Jacob's Journey (working title), is an immersive experience that takes viewers on a personal journey through the Second World War and the Holocaust, offering a unique perspective on history. The audience is invited to have a conversation with Jacob Goldstein, a Polish-Canadian Holocaust Survivor. The experience starts as a personal encounter, a conversation with a living witness, and takes you to a journey through his life, so you can explore the moments from his personal biography. The project will feature Jacob's story, as well as interviews with other survivors, and aims to highlight the similarities and unique aspects of each individual's experience.

We are proud to have pitched the project at various festivals and markets, including East Doc Interactive, goEast, New Images, Stereopsia, IDFA DocLab, and to have won the Best Immersive Experience pitch at the Sunny Side of the Doc.

We are currently in the process of developing a prototype and seeking partners for the full production.

In conclusion, 2022 was a busy and productive year, and we are grateful for your continued support. If you would like to catch up more directly, we are always available for a zoom call or in-person meeting. And of course, you can meet with us at this year’s festivals and conferences!

Best regards,

Joanne
